First Visitor Comment

After months of being online.. a visitor finally left a comment (Thanks to Mark) on my post on CakePHP Framework.. I thought no one ever reads the stuff i put in this blog.. Its put mostly garbage in here anyway.. who can blame people from not reading my posts..

Anyway, now that i know someone does read some of the posts here.. i will try with the best i can to put some quality control into my posts.. try as much as i can to rid my future posts of typographic errors.. (i.e spelling mistakes) and try to work on my grammar.. For people who find their way into this space.. i apologize for the spelling mistakes and the grammar.. you cant expect an engineering major from USC-TC to have some exceptional composition skills.

If ever you find it hard to understand my posts.. just drop a comment.. :)

Fedora Core 5 On My Laptop

I just got so fed up with windows these days.. that i decided to put linux on my laptop.. something i use almost everyday.  it was running windows xp before but i find it too heavy for such a not so powerfull laptop.. By the way, my laptop just sports a Intel Celeron M 1.6 Ghz with 256 MB DDR2 and a 40 GB drive.. Specs that might not work for most people.. as for me.. who needs all the power when all you use all day is a plain text editor for the PHP Programming work.

Now on to the big question which one of the hundreds of linux distros to install… I have tried Ubuntulinux.. but i dont see what the fuss about the linux distro here is about.. personally i dont really like using ubuntu linux.. i also tried open suse.. i also did not like it.. at the end i ended up with fedora core 5.

When the install was done on FC5.. i find the look easy to use.. i was disappointed though my Broadcom Integrated Wifi card did not work after the installation.. but after hours of research i found out that i need to update the kernel.. so i hooked up the integrated LAN to a spare port on my home network.. and run a “yum update”.. i had to leave the pc downloading the new stuff that fedora has.. after 6 hours or so.. i finally got the wifi working..

Also on the there are some sites on the web that contain detailed instructions on installing essential stuff on a FC5 installation.

Finally Updated My Blog to WordPress 2.0.4

After 28 days, i finally got around to updating this blog to the latest WordPress release. Not many modifications to it.. GUI wise.. from the docs on the WordPress site its mostly just security fixes. Eventhough the wordpress upgrade is such a breeze and just takes 5 minutes tops, that is assuming your ISP does not suck, i still find it hard to find time to upgrade the thing.

These days it seem, there is always not enough time. So many things to do in so little time. It would be nice though for wordpress to have the upgrade in one click.. that would be a lot of help.. Next up is try to find some time to do some mods to this wordpress install to make the site a much nicer place to visit and also to post my new pictures on the gallery.

Global Outdoor Furniture Supplies Site

I just finished my new fully flash site for Global Outdoor Furniture Supplies.. Its a simple site effects and design wise.. what make it look good are the pictures used for backgrounds. If i where more free to make a decision as to where the site is going to be used, i think it fit perfectly to a photographers portfolio site. You can check out the site at http://www.globaloutdoorfurniture.com

A bit more info on the site.. i took all the pictures.. some of it might look as good as the others… the site is made just in flash.. using one main movie and small bits all over the place.. Like the catalogs area.. each one of those each a small swf file..

One caution though.. the site is not 100% complete.. it still got some rough edges i need to iron out.. but otherwise the site is all good.. hope you enjoy browsing through the site as much as i enjoyed working on it.
