Its a plane.. no its just a jeepney going at a 150kph
I was watching the news today, 27 people dead on an accident on Luzon.. i dont know the details exactly. Only the fact that 27 died got to my head. 27 people died of something that could have been prevented if only LTFRB (Land Transportation Francising Regulatory Board) has somehow limited the speed of public transport to say 40 to 60 kph.
Almost everytime i travel up north.. i always encounter more than 4 public transport with very aggressive drivers going at i dont know.. cause im going at around 80 to 100 kph.. yet these guys seem to leave me in their dust.. they must be going about 120 to 130 kph. And the way they drive.. it really shows their disregard for the safety of the passengers on board, the other vehicles on the road and also the pedestrians.
Since that new about an accident here in the city which killed a pregnant mother and two other guys cause the jeepney they are riding is beating the stop light, i have always been suggesting that the speed to these public transport especially those that accomodate more than 5 people should have a limited speed. i dont know how to forcibly limit the speed they can travel.. but i think it is very possible. The cost of limiting their speed can also be a lot but still less than the lost of human life.
This accidents can also be caused by the widespread curruption at LTO(Land Transportation Office). Even with a drug test and drivers’ exam in place, everyone can see even by just a sneak peek at the LTO office that with enough cash on hand, the drug test and the drivers exam can easily be bought.
I can probably accept that a cetain percentage of the nation going to the hand of politicians but the with the obvious disregard of the agencies of public safety is something else.
